I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.
Name: Kobe Wittemore
[ R1: Kobe won the race against Gideon by chance and met Theia for the first time. He installed his tent in the ranger's treehouse but isolated it from all the others. Though, he spends most of his time down on the ground to take care of Faun and Diane who both can't or don't want to climb on the tree. ] Story
Kobe had a peaceful childhood as the only child of a pretty poor but happy family. His father, the carpenter of the village taught him his art and how important and dangerous the Pokemon of the surrounding forests were. The young boy always liked and respected them all, no matter what their reputation was.
Kobe was always sent off in the dangerous woods to gather resources for his father, so he knew how to defend himself just as well as he knew how to recognize all the trees and environment surrounding him.
But one day, when he was 18, his life forever changed. During one of his expeditions, he found himself before a dilemma. Saving a tortured Stantler caught by a trapper and risking to kill that person who didn't want to let his pray go or just allowing this desolating show go on in front of his eyes. His choice changed him forever.
The Stantler was safe but Kobe was now a criminal. He had killed a man.
In a panic, he ran back to his parents house and explained them everything. He left home with his father's benediction and his Pokemon, Raisin, leaving his mother in tears behind him. He spent then the three hardest years of his whole life, trying to survive in the forest, learning all the nature's lessons the hard way. His only contact with the cities and villages were when he got in to sell the skins of the Pokemon he had to kill on order to eat an survive. Kobe always kept his face hidden under a big hood, he couldn't risk to be recognized. With the money, he was able to supply himself and buy decent clothes to replace his worn up ones.
He got used to this harsh but pleasant life, not establishing himself anywhere for more than a few days, always fearing he was still tracked like a prey by the people related to that wealthy trapper. Until the day when he arrived to a frontier village. That would be his first encounter with the war and its terrible ways. Scavengers were ravaging a tiny farm village, killing all the townspeople. It was a true massacre. Raisin and Kobe barely escaped that rampage, hiding in a tree, paralyzed by fear. That's where he met a Scyther which was in the exact same situation. A link bounded them.
That cowardice and shock were what decided Kobe to join the rangers. He needed assistance. He needed people. He was afraid and the last thing he wanted was to find himself with nobody to rely on anymore. Personnality
Kobe is a rather mentally weak man. He doesn't stand pressure and stress so well, which often leads him into troublesome situation from which he'd rather run away than face. As a kid already, he was never too sociable with the children his age but now, things have gotten even worse. He has absolutely no idea how to behave with others and doesn't understand most of the social behaviours like bowing in front of others or even kissing the women's hands. Most of the time, he will end up being impolite, rather angry or too confused and embarrassed to carry on the conversation, especially if he gets touched by anybody, which he hates more than anything.
More than anything he has a really hard time trusting people, even those he already knows a bit. So far, the only one he trusts enough is Ibb, since the boy saved his life and offered him shelter. Therefore, Kobe avoids crowds and cities as much as possible and tends to panic when he gets pushed around too much or is put in contact with too many strangers.
Aside from that, Kobe is a very caring man when it comes to Pokemon and he enjoys the calm moments he can spend with them. Even though he can not understand Pokemon speech, he is familiar enough with his team to understand what they want and feel. Fun facts!
-He can't swim. He never had the chance to learn and he is pretty much afraid of rivers and lakes. He will avoid crossing water and he'd rather build a raft and take a whole day to do so rather than risking crossing it by foot.
-He got used to killing wild animals for food but he still honors their soul before skinning them.
-He doesn't like pokeballs because he doesn't understand how they work. He can't help but thinking that pokemons are crushed inside of it and don't feel at ease at all. Plus he loves the company of his team more than anything else.
-Raisin and Faun often help him cutting down trees to gather firewood, or for some fun carving activities which he likes to share with his pokemon.
-He likes eating Dittos grilled on some good firewood. He thinks their jelly-like texture tastes heavenly. Team

Raisin was Kobe's father's pokemon, which he gave to his son to accompany him and
help him surviving in his journey and flight. The only problem is that Raisin is pretty stubborn
and didn't really enjoy being sent off his home, away from his all time companion.
He tends not to listen to Kobe and distrust him.

Her first meeting with Kobe wasn't exactly in the best circumstances. Caught in
a trap, she was getting his antlers sewed off brutally and carelessly. Still alive and
fully conscious, she kept wheezing and snorting in pain, which finally drew Kobe's attention.
Trying to save her, he threw his axe at the trapper and helped her flee. He only met her
again during the exam to enter the rangers and since then, they can't be separated from
Moves: Sword dance, Aerial ace, Bug bite, Quick attack
When Kobe got attacked at the frontier village, Him and Raisin fled, terrified and helpless.
They finally hid in a tree, waiting for the scavengers to finally finish rampaging the
village and the forest. On the exact same tree, was a Scyther, just as scared as they both were.
When they got all down from the tree, the Scyther decided to follow them, apparently looking
for company. He doesn't express himself much and spends most of his time lost in thoughts.
Moves: Fly, Rooster, Hurricane, U-turn
At the end of the first round, Kobe ended his runs by jumping off the cliff and fell on Theia's back. If it wasn't for her, he would never have won the race and neither would he have finished it alive. The young ranger then felt like he had to seek her out. He finally found her and spent two days trying to get her accustomed to him. She finally accepted to follow him around.
Even though she will accept fighting for Kobe, she doesn't really stay so close to him and the rest of the team. She would usually fly around freely. If Kobe ever needs her, she will always be close enough to hear him whistle.
